DESCRIPTION
Strong in flavour, store well and are marketed from September to July. They are the most common onions available in the UK, and are seen as the staple product of the onion world. They are versatile and can be used in almost any savoury dish. Greenshoots produce 13,000 tons each year from 260Ha. The crop is harvested August - September and kept in cold and controlled atmosphere stores until marketed mainly to the retail trade.

 
DESCRIPTION
Medium strength and also slightly sweet, adds a very attractive colour to salads and mediterranean cooking. These are marketed from October to July. Characterised by their dark red skin, red onions are excellent for adding colour to raw dishes such as salads or Salsas. Greenshoots produce 4,000 tons each year from 100Ha.


 
DESCRIPTION
Parsnips are grown
throughout East Anglia which provides a range of micro climates to allow early and late production. Parsnips including organic products are available from the UK between mid July and late May, outside
of this they are also readily available from overseas sources. Greenshoots produce 20,000 tons of parsnips from 450Ha. They can be packed into bulk, loose flow or pre-packed. For retail customers the 2007/08 season saw the introduction of a new variety of baby parsnip.

 
DESCRIPTION
Greenshoots produces 8000 tons of leeks, grown from 420Ha. Crops are harvested daily to ensure freshness and packed on farm in Cambridgeshire. UK loose, prepacked & organic leeks are available from early July until May. Baby leeks are smaller and sweeter, with a very delicate flavour. Baby leeks are available from early July through to the end of January. Product can be packed loose or in a punnet.

 

DESCRIPTION
Greenshoots produces 70,000 tons of carrots from 750Ha. Carrots are grown in different regions of the UK to ensure British products are supplied for a large proportion of the year. They are harvested on a daily basis to ensure freshness. Greenshoots washing and packing facility employs modern technology to polish the product. Early crops are grown under fleece while late harvests are over wintered from the elements by straw installation. Carrots are packed into bulk, loose flow, or pre-packed for retail customers. Organic carrots are available from July to October.
